Objective: This study aimed in understanding the vision from the family members of a pschyatric hospital
users about home visit in mental health. Method: Descriptive qualitative study on the basis of semi
structured interview technique, carried out in 2007. Fourteen families, users of a public psychiatric hospital
in Rio de Janeiro, RJ,Brazil, participated. Results: The family front of the emotional, social and economic
overburden, consequent of the patient relapsed has reported feeling as frustration, stress and helpless
confirming the importance of the home visit as a therapeutic resource due the necessity of support and
orientations to face the related problems. Conclusion: The vision from the family members about home visit
in mental health is a therapeutic resource that contributes to prevention of crises and relapsed of the
patient minimizing psychological distress and social isolation of the group.

Objective: aimed both at identifying psychosocial risks and rewards in the nursing work at a burn center and checking its possible association with occupational stress. Method: An exploratory quantitative and descriptive research piece of research. Data were collected through closed questionnaires on effort and reward in the work. Thirty seven nursing workers from a public hospital in Rio de Janeiro district in 2013 took part in it. Results: The psychosocial risks pointed by the group cause occupational stress according to some of them: time pressure, interruptions, a lot of responsibility in the work and physically demanding. The rewards were the respect of superiors and colleagues, adequate support in difficult situations and fairly treated. Conclusions: Conclusions show that it is necessary to diagnose and monitor the risks in the work as well as strengthen the rewards to minimize occupational stress and promote the physical and mental health of the group.

ABSTRACT Objectives: to understand the working conditions and strategies adopted by nurse-midwives in maternity hospitals. Methods: a qualitative, descriptive, exploratory study with 20 nurse-midwives from public maternity hospitals in the city of Rio de Janeiro. Data were collected from June to September 2018 through semi-structured interviews, submitted to thematic content analysis and discussed in the light of the psychodynamics of work. Results: working conditions are inadequate due to poor infrastructure and resource deficit. Therefore, they develop defensive strategies to mitigate suffering, avoid destabilization of professional identity and minimize losses on care, through material purchase, lunch hour abdication, task reorganization and break implementation. Final Considerations: the strategies adopted hide work precariousness and suggest alienation of workers, evidencing the need to foster political awareness of this collective to promote concrete transformations in their work reality.
